What Are Cookies

A cookie is a small file of letters and numbers stored on your browser or the hard drive of your computer when you agree to its use. Cookies contain information that is transferred to your computer's hard drive and help us distinguish you from other users, improve your experience, and allow us to improve our site.

The Cookies We Use

We keep cookie use deliberately minimal. No analytics or third-party cookies are set until you give consent via the banner.

Strictly necessary cookies. These are required for the site to function correctly. They are set without consent because the site cannot operate without them. We use:

• ca_cookie_consent — records your choice from the cookie banner so we don't ask you again. Set for 1 year.
• cora_sora_session_v1, cora_sora_current_assessment — browser local storage used by the UK SORA SAIL Calculator to keep you signed in and to remember which of your saved assessments you last opened. Kept until you sign out. Not cookies, but they work the same way and are strictly necessary for the tool.
• dp_session, dp_ack_builder, dp_ack_slides — set in the delegate portal to keep enrolled delegates signed in during a visit and to remember that you have accepted each area's notice. They are strictly necessary for the portal, contain no personal data beyond your delegate username, and expire when you close your browser, after about 15 minutes without activity, and in any case within 24 hours.

Analytical cookies. If you accept cookies via the banner, we load Google Analytics (gtag.js, property G-EY6GJPZRGC) to count visitors and understand how the site is used: which pages are viewed, how long visitors stay, which links and buttons are clicked, and which site or search engine a visit came from. Google Analytics sets cookies including _ga and _ga_*. See Google's cookie policy for details. We do not use targeting or advertising cookies.

Delegate portal access log. When an enrolled delegate signs in to the private delegate portal, we keep a simple server-side record of the sign-in and which area was opened, purely for access-control reasons. This record is not a cookie and is kept on our systems, not on your device. It never includes anything you enter into the delegate tool or any document it produces, and it does not record your IP address.

Third-Party Cookies

The only third-party cookies set on this site are those set by Google Analytics, and only after you accept cookies via the consent banner. Refer to Google's privacy policy for how they handle the data.

Cookieless Analytics and Third-Party Resources

We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without setting cookies or storing anything on your device, so it runs without consent; it sees your IP address as part of delivering the page. The UK SORA SAIL Calculator loads its map tiles from MapTiler, its fonts from Google Fonts and its code libraries from cdnjs (Cloudflare); each of those providers receives your device's IP address when the page loads and sets no cookies. Changing Your Choice

You can change or withdraw your cookie choice at any time: click here to show the cookie banner again. Withdrawing consent stops Google Analytics loading on future pages. Any _ga cookies already set can be removed via your browser settings.

Blocking Cookies

You can block cookies by activating the relevant setting on your browser. However, if you use your browser settings to block all cookies, including essential cookies, you may not be able to access all or parts of our site.
